HTML cleaner for Word, websites and code

Paste text from Word, Google Docs or any website — or raw HTML code. Pick what to remove: attributes, inline styles, classes and IDs, invisible characters, span tags, comments or links. Get clean HTML ready for your CMS in one click.

Your content

What to remove

Everything is on by default. Switch off what you want to keep — the result updates instantly.

Removes every attribute except href, src, alt, colspan and rowspan: lang, target, data-*, width and the rest.

Removes style="…" attributes and <style> blocks — fonts, colours and the mso-* junk from Word.

Removes class and id, such as MsoNormal or the classes of the site you copied from.

Cleans characters you can’t see but that break layout and search:

Removes <span>, <font> and Word’s <o:p> tags, keeping the text inside.

Removes <!-- … -->, including Word’s conditional comments <!--[if …]>.

Removes <a> tags and keeps the anchor text: <a href="…">text</a> → text.

Why clean HTML

From Word to your CMS

Word adds dozens of styles, classes and conditional comments to every paragraph. In a CMS that means broken fonts, odd spacing and a heavier page.

Copied from another site

Text copied from a website brings its classes, IDs and links along. They clash with your design and leak links you didn’t mean to place.

Better for SEO

Clean markup is lighter and easier for search engines and AI to read. Invisible characters inside words break search matching — “seoaudit” is not “seoaudit” for a search engine.

Questions

No. Cleaning happens in your browser with JavaScript. The text never leaves your computer.

Scripts, iframes and event handlers are removed when you paste, so nothing from the pasted content can run on the page. If you paste code, switch to the HTML code tab.

Yes. The cleaner only removes what you switch on: the structure — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, bold, italic and images — stays.

Without them images disappear and links point nowhere. If you don’t need the links at all, switch on “Links” — the tags go, the anchor text stays.

Non-breaking spaces (turned into normal spaces), zero-width characters, soft hyphens, text direction marks, control characters, double spaces and empty paragraphs. Each group can be switched off.
