Copy text to your phone with a QR codeFree text and link to QR code generator

Paste a text, link, address or promo code and the QR code appears instantly. Point your phone camera at it and the text is on your phone: no messengers, email, cable or Bluetooth. Long texts are split into several codes automatically.

1What to send

Error correction

L holds the most text and gives the largest modules. H still scans when part of the code is covered or the screen glares, but holds 2.3 times less.

The code is generated in your browser: the text is not sent or stored anywhere.

2Point your phone camera

Your QR code will appear here

Open the camera on your phone and point it at the code. If your camera doesn’t read QR codes, use Google Lens or any scanner app.

How to copy text from your computer to your phone

Handy when you need to get a link, address, promo code, order number or a piece of a note onto your phone fast.

1

Paste the text

Copy a text or link on your computer and paste it into the field. The code updates as you type; there is nothing to press.

2

Point the camera

Open the camera on your phone and point it at the screen. If the code is small or hard to read, open it full screen.

3

Copy it on the phone

The phone shows the text or offers to open the link. Tap the prompt above the code, select the text and copy it.

Why a QR code beats messaging yourself

Nothing goes online

The code is drawn in your browser. The text never reaches a server, a chat history or the cloud, so you can even send a password this way.

Long texts

One code holds up to 2,953 bytes: about 2,900 Latin characters. Longer texts are split into several codes that you flip through by hand or automatically.

Any language and emoji

The text is encoded as UTF-8, so accented letters, Cyrillic, CJK and emoji arrive on the phone intact.

PNG and SVG

Download the code as a PNG image or a vector SVG for print, or copy it to the clipboard and paste it into a document.

Questions about sending text with a QR code

Paste the text into the field above and point your phone camera at the code. The text travels through the camera, so the phone needs no Wi-Fi, mobile data or Bluetooth. Only the computer needs internet to open this page.

At level L, up to 2,953 bytes: about 2,900 Latin characters (accented letters, Cyrillic and CJK take 2–3 bytes each). Levels M, Q and H hold less: 2,331, 1,663 and 1,273 bytes. If the text doesn’t fit, the generator splits it into several codes, up to 30.

Open the code full screen and get rid of glare. Hold the phone 20–40 cm (8–16 in) from the screen. A long text makes a dense code with tiny modules: choose level L, which makes them larger, or shorten the text.

The camera shows a prompt above the recognized code. Tap it: depending on the phone, you get the text with a Copy button or a search with the text already in the search box. Links open in the browser right away.

The text never leaves your computer: a script in your browser draws the code, and the page sends nothing to a server and stores nothing. But anyone who can see your screen can scan the code, so clear the field right after scanning.

Yes. Paste the line WIFI:T:WPA;S:network_name;P:password;; with your own network name and password. After scanning, the phone offers to join the network.
